Our firm has evolved from a Dallas-based traditional fundamental long-short hedge fund manager that has been operating since 1998.
We believe we have leveraged our knowledge and skill in the process of fundamentally selecting great investments with the scalability and risk management we feel is uniquely available through the use of our proprietary data science platform.
Drawing from the extensive knowledge and experience of our Chief Investment Officer, Blair Baker, who has led an investment management company for 25 years, we have developed a unique investment strategy that leverages modern technologies, such as machine learning and factor back-testing, to analyze millions of data points across thousands of companies.
We believe this approach surpasses the inherent limits of either (a) using only the traditional methods of fundamental investment analysis, which are largely based on human intuition or (b) Machine learning models, like neural networks, that aim to optimize combinations of hundreds of factors, and produces 'black box' solutions that, while potentially effective, lack the transparency and explainability required to understand the underlying decision-making process and control risk.
We believe that the traditional methods of investing are no longer sufficient to generate market beating returns. Our approach streamlines the research process, allowing us to select long and short baskets of stocks that we believe will outperform their peers and beat their respective indices.
